pictures of rome

Gorgeous little alley somewhere between Piazza Navona and the river. Who could be lucky enough to live here? Not me, I live in a grizzled modern Rome suburb. But average everyday inhabitants of Rome do live in such exotic spots as this. Note the public drinking fountain on the left just outside the entrance, handy for fresh chilled ever-running spring water to drink, wash or cook in, any time of day, any day of the year. Yet also notice the grafitti, an indicator of how Rome's inhabitants take this kind of ancient architectural beauty that they live in as no big deal.

Nuns on the run!
It's not just the sight of nuns drivng cars around Rome that's funny, it's more than that - Just look at the casual way this dame has her hand draped out the window, while with the other one hand on the wheel she flings that buggy along the Via Lungotevere, chatting all the while through the Rome rush hour traffic. What a woman! Did you ever see nuns like this before?

More curious contrasts - Rap-style sticker adorns a two hundred year-old marble door post. Italians take their historical architecture completely for granted.
